Trek 2016

And camping for the night we headed to the spot we were to welcome the arrival of the Handcart Company..... 2 hours later they finally came in. It was so fun to see them all parade in.  One kids in each family got to ride on top of the handcart and wave the flag.  Ellie rode on top of hers and was so cute.

The kids were anxious to get home and shower- but we made time to stop at the fruit stand to show Paul the kittens.  And buy some more delicious raspberries!

Catherine Creek Camping

After our weekend in Hood River we headed East- and kept going about 2 hours East to a beautiful camping spot called Catherine Creek State Park.  Paul and Ellie were on trek- and we had to pick them up- so why not make a weekend of it? I love camping and look for any excuse to go.  Plus, it was much easier with only 3 kids.  We stopped at a fun little fruit stand on the way there.  Actually, it was more of a little farm, with chickens, and sheep, and kittens.

The Gorge

There is a canyon that runs between us and Portland, and it's called The Gorge.  Do you know why it's called that? Because it's Gorgeous!  Paul and Ellie had trek, so Darren and I took a little trip to Hood River and did a few hikes.  First of all, Hood River is amazing .  It had me at hello. It's where I want to move when Darren retires.  It's perfect.  So anyways, we stayed at the Best Western in Hood River, (which is our favorite place to stay) .  We did a fun, beautiful hike to Punch Bowl Falls- then a hike to Tamanawas Falls. We had a blast!
