Shark Tooth Beach

Our favorite!! Otherwise known as Caspersen Beach in Venice.  It is about 1 1/2 hours North of us.  We have been 4 or 5 times.  Here is pictures of us there in Sept. We went with a bunch of families in Milano and had a great time.  This part of the ocean used to be an ancient river bed full of sharks.  Each shark would lose about 20,000 teeth.  So now there are lots of shark teeth in the sand.  There is a system to finding the teeth- here is how shark tooth hunting works. 

First, scoop up the shells right along the bench where the waves crash

This is what the sand looks like.

Then dump it into a sifter.

Look through it and hope you find a tooth!  Typically there is 1 or 2 per shovel full.
